Discomfort is the doorway to every version of you worth becoming
This week I saw a post on IG from a man who was expressing his frustration on how he earned lots of money selling trinkets and t-shirts… but earned hardly any money from trying to coach people to heal and tackle their difficulties.
Why do people prefer to buy crap they don’t need over getting onto the path of personal growth?
The post had received nearly 16k likes at the time I viewed it… so it clearly resonates.
And I can definitely understand the good man’s frustration - because I had a phase like that as well.
The thing is, no matter how much you would love people to heal, and by doing so, help create a better world… this healing doesn’t come from a simple “Buy” click.
"To heal" is a verb. It requires work, hard work at times causing discomfort. Some of the deeper work isn’t called “the dark night of the soul” for nothing.
I know, this doesn’t make for a “unique selling proposition” to get you onboard… but wait for it
Many people shy away from this work, exactly because it concerns stuff they prefer not to look at. because it is stuff that makes them feel (very) uncomfortable. The trinkets and t-shirts are a distraction.
Healing and personal growth cannot be forced. As the Chinese proverb goes:
“The teacher opens the door, but you must enter by yourself.”
I would like to end this post with listing what you can expect, beyond your trouble and discomfort in personal development work, in healing & releasing.
The results you get are:
- self-knowledge and self-understanding
- unburdening
- self-love
- conscious co-creation of the life you wish for yourself - also conscious of the self-sabotage by your mind
the capacity to consciously redirect yourself in any given situation
- self-empowerment, leaving with others what belongs to them
- heart-centeredness - you have to experience this to be able to value the important worth this has
- Self-realisation, capital S intended. Like the previous one a pretty spirituality-based benefit, but believe me, the most worth it of all.
Maybe the shopping list still appeals a lot more, for now… and that’s okay.
When the coachee is ready, the coach will appear.
